چکیده

The general problem under consideration in this paper is the stability analysis of hyperbolic systems. Some sufficient criteria on the boundary conditions exist for the stability of a system of conservation laws. We investigate the problem of the stability of such a system in presence of boundary errors that have a small C1-norm. Two types of perturbations are considered in this work: the errors proportional to the solutions and those proportional to the integral of the solutions. We exhibit a sufficient criterion on the boundary conditions such that the system is locally exponentially stable with a robustness issue with respect to small boundary errors. We apply this general condition to control the dynamic behavior of a pipe filled with water. The control is defined as the position of a valve at one end of the pipe. The potential application is the study of hydropower installations to generate electricity. For this king of application it is important to avoid the waterhammer effect and thus to control the C1-norm of the solutions. Our damping condition allows us to design a controller so that the system in closed loop is locally exponential stable with a robustness issue with respect to small boundary errors. Since the boundary errors allow us to define the stabilizing controller, small errors in the actuator may be considered. Also a small integral action to avoid possible offset may also be added.

Self-similar solutions‎ ‎of the Riemann problem for two-dimensional systems of conservation‎ ‎laws

In this paper, a new approach is applied to study the self-similar solutions of 2×2 systems of nonlinear hyperbolic conservation laws. A notion of characteristic directions is introduced and then used to construct local and smooth solutions of the associated Riemann problem

The comparison of two high-order semi-discrete central schemes for solving hyperbolic conservation laws

This work presents two high-order, semi-discrete, central-upwind schemes for computing approximate solutions of 1D systems of conservation laws. We propose a central weighted essentially non-oscillatory (CWENO) reconstruction, also we apply a fourth-order reconstruction proposed by Peer et al., and afterwards, we combine these reconstructions with a semi-discrete central-upwind numerical flux ...

On the Boundary Control of Systems of Conservation Laws

The paper is concerned with the boundary controllability of entropy weak solutions to hyperbolic systems of conservation laws. We prove a general result on the asymptotic stabilization of a system near a constant state. On the other hand, we give an example showing that exact controllability in finite time cannot be achieved, in general.

Robust boundary control of systems of conservation laws

The stability problem of a system of conservation laws perturbed by non-homogeneous terms is investigated. These non-homogeneous terms are assumed to have a small C1-norm. By a Riemann coordinates approach a sufficient stability criterion is established in terms of the boundary conditions. This criterion can be interpreted as a robust stabilization condition by means of a boundary control, for ...

Time-periodic Solutions to Systems of Conservation Laws with Ellipticity

We study the time-periodic solutions to systems of conservation laws with ellipticity. It is shown that under time-periodic boundary condition, the system admits at least one global time-periodic solution bounded uniformly with the same period.
